Welcome to the Massachusetts School of Law faculty and student fundraising page for Walk for HAWC! Thank you for supporting our efforts in taking a stand against domestic violence. This is a collaborative effort between MSLaw's student body and faculty. Please help us reach our goal of $2,000.00.
HAWC is a wonderful organization aimed at creating social change by taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression. HAWC provides services and support to victims of domestic violence residing in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts' North Shore in order that they may make informed, independent decisions about their futures, and access alternatives to living in a violent situation. HAWC's services are free and depend upon donations and fundraising events like its annual walk.
Here are some facts about domestic abuse:
(1) 1 in 3 adult women will experience at least one physical assault by a partner.
(2) 1 in 5 high school female students have reported being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.
(3) Every day at least three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in the United States.
(4) In Massachusetts, there were 25 domestic violence homicide victims in 2008, which was down from 42 in 2007.
(5) Each year an estimated 3.3 million children witness female caretakers being abused.
Thank you for visiting MSLaw's Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
