How does my charity get donations I’ve raised on my Personal Fundraising Page?

Firstgiving forwards donations to the charity at intervals determined by Firstgiving and the charity. If Firstgiving has an Electronic Funds Transfer agreement with the charity, the funds are sent weekly.

Otherwise, Firstgiving sends a check with the previous month's donations to the charity during the middle of each month. In other words, all donations made in January will go to the charity mid-February.

If you are concerned with the destination of your donations, please feel free to contact support@firstgiving.com to confirm the payment address.

Why did a donation disappear from my page?

The only reason for a donation previously listed on your fundraising page to be removed is when your donors’ credit card is rejected by his/her bank at the authorization stage. A card can be rejected for a variety of reasons - your donor may have entered an incorrect expiration date or card number, for instance.

You don’t need to do anything. We will automatically contact the card owner to explain the problem and invite them to donate again. They can do so via your online Personal Fundraising Page. Once your donor has contributed again successfully, the donation will re-appear on your page.

I fundraised for the wrong charity, what do I do now?

Please cancel your fundraising page as soon as possible to avoid collecting donations in error.

Any donations already collected through your cancelled page are final and non-refundable by Firstgiving.

However if you would like your donors to get a refund, you can contact the recipient charity directly. We will carry out refunds in exceptional circumstances, and with the charity's consent.
