Thank you for visiting the SANo fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and completely secure. It is also the most efficient way to fundraise for Nelly's surgery - CFHI will immediately re-grant your donation to fund the heart operation.
For those of you who know las Dra.'s Uribe, Santivañez, or Hidalgo, feel free to leave them a message with your donation. Again, many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might also want to donate!

Below, some more information about SANo, the foundation Sarantañani Trabajador, and Nelly - the little girl with a serious heart condition who needs our help.
The Sarantañani Action Network – SANo
SANo (“healthy” in Spanish) is an assemblage of CFHI alumni, their relatives and friends, and others, who agree to receive occasional emails about the most serious health issues that CFHI staff and volunteers encounter among the impoverished children of Sarantañani Trabajador. The members of SANo are encouraged to donate to help pay for the expensive remedies that specific children require.
To join SANo, please email Rachel at rmeketon09@amherst.edu. To donate by credit card, click the "GIVE NOW" link on this page. Or, mail a check to CFHI: 995 Market Street, Suite 1104, San Francisco, CA 94103 - specifying that the donation is for "SANo".
Sarantañani Trabajador
The privately and publicly funded Sarantañani Trabajador offers a variety of needed services to children and adolescents who work in the streets of La Paz. The programs include academic instruction and assistance, cultural activities, meal plans, and professional healthcare. The clinic, open daily in the afternoons, was installed and is funded by CFHI in La Paz.

¡ Nelly !
Nelly is a six-year-old student, street-worker, and cherished daughter and sister. She has been diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus - the condition that results when the fetal blood vessel, ductus arteriosus, remains open after birth. Nelly suffers the following consequences, as recently demonstrated by examinations with a local cardiologist: hypertension in the lungs, which prevents her from sleeping at night, and the enlargement of the heart, which can lead to heart failure in the future. Another result of the condition has been stunted growth.
Each of these problems should be taken care of by a simple surgical procedure that closes the ductus arteriosus - but the surgery cannot be completed until sufficient funds are raised to pay for it.
