Jonathan, Julian and I will be participating in a walk to raise money for the Scleroderma Foundation, an organization that, unfortunately, hardly anyone has ever heard of. I too, was one of those people until my sister and best friend, Denise was diagnosed with Scleroderma two years ago.
Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease that affects the entire body. Some symptoms include skin hardening, organ failure, joint stiffness, muscle contracture and Raynauds syndrome. It is an unpredictable chronic disease in that the symptoms, severity and mortality rate vary from person to person.
Watching Denise go through the physical and emotional challenges of it has been heartbreaking at times but watching her ferocious battle with it has been nothing short of inspiring. Scleroderma may have affected her physically but it did nothing but strengthen the fighter in her. How appropriate that she named our fundraising team Fight Club.
(Thank you for visiting our Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!)
