Like so many others (100,000 others, actually), I'm taking part in the infamous NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month. This is something I try to do every few years and this year seems like a good time. So, other than drinking too much coffee and mubling incoherent things like, "where's my PLOT?" what will I be doing? This year I thought I'd do something socially responsible in addition to making myself caffeinated and crazy.
This year, I need added motivation and therefore I'm asking you to help me raise money for the nonprofit agency: Office of Letters and Light. These are the awesome people behind NaNo and they work hard to inspire a love of writing and literature in children of all ages. Your donation will not only guilt me into finishing my 50,000 novel (in 30 days -- did I mention I only have 30 days??) but it will also go to fund literacy events that will captivate the minds of children and adults, helping them to find their stories and teaching them to tell them.
My goal is $500. This is mostly because I didn't give anyone any warning and NaNo is literally right around the corner. What would a donation drive be without incentives, though, right? So I have some. I have some giveaways for every $50 raised and if you make a donation of (or several donations equaling) $100 or more, I will write you into the story. Will you be a villain? A superhero? A deceptively innocuous passerby?? No one knows! (I definitely don't. Maybe you can help me with that "plot" thing?)
Anyhow, thanks for considering my little crazy-making adventure. Please pass this page along to anyone you think would be entertained by someone making a literary fool of herself for the good of mankind -- or, um, something like that...
