The 8th Annual Great Steps for NF walk is on Saturday, June 6, 2009 in downtown Naperville at the River Walk. Team Rokosz will take part in helping to raise money that will fund and support Neurofibromatosis research.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in the body at any time. NF is a progressive disorder that affects all races and both sexes equally. Some effects of this disorder include: tumor growth, cancer, learning disabilities, bone deformities, disfigurement, hearing loss, epilepsy, and vision impairment. It is a real disease in need of more awareness, funding and research. Currently, there is no cure or effective treatment.
Our son, Nick, was formally diagnosed with NF at 3 years old, although we were aware of the imminent diagnosis at the early age of 4 months. To say that this news was difficult to comprehend would be an understatement. The Rokosz family has found strength from the support we received from our friends and family. Together with your help, we would like to raise money to help fund research to find a cure for this disease.
We thank you with all our hearts for your support!
