For someone whose life work revolves around capturing memories and preserving personal history through photography, it broke my heart when I met Juni who told me about the orphans in Kenya who loose their parents and don't even have a photograph to remember them by.  It was that tidbit that gripped my heart and kept me thinking of Juni beyond our first meeting.

Since that time, I've learned more from Juni and more about her organization, Sequoia Helping Hands.  When I asked her what was most needed in the area, she shared how difficult it is for orphaned girls to go to school, because they are often left with younger siblings and must care for them.  These girls desperately needed nursery services so that they could become educated.  That comes at a cost of $10,000 and I've made it my mission to raise that money for Juni.

I know that my daughters fear that I'll head off to Kenya and take those photos for the little children - to give them something to hang onto.  Maybe one day, but today isn't the right time for that.  So, for now, I'll give my time and energy from afar by trying to raise the funds to build a nursery.
