Friends, Family & Supporters,
I am so thrilled to announce my first effort to utilize my running to raise funds for a worthy ministry as I train to enter the Space Coast Half Marathon in Cape Canaveral on November 29,2009!! (The race is over, but you can still give for the next couple of months. This page can be accessed through January 29, 2010. Between now and then I will be running 2 more races: a 5k on December 12 and a 4-Miler on January 23. I will continue to run for this cause and hope you will join me and help me reach the $1,000 target.)
In July my friend and former ministry partner Keith Martin, Worship Arts Pastor at Woodland in Bradenton, was diagnosed with testicular cancer. In August he began his first round of chemo treatments which may last anywhere from 9 to 12 weeks.
Here is a site if you wish to learn a bit about Keith and his journey thus far...
www.gowoodland.com/keith
In the United States, between 7,500 and 8,000 diagnoses of testicular cancer are made each year. Over his lifetime, a man's risk of testicular cancer is roughly 1 in 250. It is most common among males aged 15–40 years, particularly those in their mid-twenties.
I will be running the 13.1 miles to honor Keith and raise funds for Western Indian Ministries, Inc. For the last 7 summers, Keith has led outreach teams to minister to the Navajos alongside the work of Western Indian Ministries. I can think of no better way to honor my friend than to run with passion for a ministry which he so dearly loves.
Keith will be facing some challenging hurdles over the next few months as he fights this battle, and he needs to know he is not fighting it alone. So any support we can send his way would be amazing!!
We all have family and friends that have been affected by cancer and know how scary it can be. We also know Keith's Creator. I hope you will take a moment to share with your Creator your heart's cry for Keith and also for the people of the Navajo Nation. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
