The Richmond Animal League, Inc. is Richmond’s oldest non-profit, no-kill humane society. RAL was founded in 1979 by a group of local good Samaritans concerned about the hundreds of stray animals in the area. We are dedicated to providing complete care and shelter to our animals until we can place them in loving permanent homes.
Our Mission:
Saving lives - providing hope, help and homes for animals in need. Our goal is the be the leader in Chesterfield County in providing homeless animals with temporary housing, medical treatment, sterilization, and quality care until they are adopted to permanent, loving homes. Our commitment to the no-kill doctrine (or "philosophy") will be promoted through our education programs that teach the imporatance of spay/neuter, responsible pet ownership, and compassion for companion animals.

If you are unfamiliar with RAL it is an awesome organization that enables homeless, unwanted four-legged children a second chance in life by finding that person just like you and me who will open their homes and their hearts to a smiling, loving ball of fur. I have been a huge fan of Richmond Animal League for a long time now. RAL provides complete medical care including vaccinations, sterilization, microchips, treatment for illnesses and lots of TLC to instill trust and confidence so the animals can be that special companion in somebody’s home. RAL provides temporary shelter and complete care until permanent, loving homes can be located. RAL is a NO-KILL shelter. I truly can’t say enough good things about RAL.
