In late July or early August, Hopelink will launch an innovative service model at a new location in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland. The new Hopelink integrated service center, which we will call “Hopelink Kirkland Northshore.” Hopelink Kirkland Northshore will feature better access, enhanced services and more flexible food bank hours for clients in the Kirkland and Northshore areas.
The 18,700 square foot center will offer a number of Hopelink’s existing services in one convenient location, and will pilot Hopelink’s first food bank based on a “grocery store” model of food distribution. This model will provide clients with expanded access to the new food bank, as we will be expanding the hours of its operation. Clients will be able to select items from shelves and refrigerated coolers rather than passing through traditional food bank lines. We are excited to be able to offer this “grocery store” model at Hopelink Kirkland Northshore, as it will allow clients greater choice and opportunity to select foods that are appropriate for their families’ needs. It will also provide clients access to services in a way that respects their work, family and life commitments and gives them more flexibility.
This center also will allow us to incorporate many Hopelink services at one location. Hopelink Kirkland Northshore will offer adult education, literacy, employment programs, case management support, lifelong learning, emergency financial assistance and energy assistance in addition to the food bank.
