Description: The Idaho Humane Society is the largest and oldest animal welfare organization and veterinary charity in Idaho. Our shelter handles approximately 15,000 animals per year and has one of the most successful adoption and fostering programs in the northwest. Our facility includes a veterinary hospital allowing every animal adopted from the shelter to be spayed or neutered to stop pet overpopulation. An assistance fund helps pet owners pay for necessary veterinary care when they can’t afford to. Animal care officers conduct cruelty investigations and rescue stray and injured animals. We offer educational classes and camps for children and presentations to civic groups. As a private nonprofit organization, we rely on donations to provide programs and services that benefit animals in Idaho.
Mission: The mission of the Idaho Humane Society is to advocate for the welfare and responsible care of animals, protect them from neglect and cruelty, and promote humane awareness and compassion. We believe that because domestic animals are a product of human intervention, we have a special obligation to them in regard to humane treatment and responsible stewardship.
