My personal message:
I am completing this site as start back to work, resuming my normal rutines and starting to get my life together again.  I was off work for 6 weeks and was battling the worst flare up I have ever had for the past year.  It has been a long road and is not over yet but I have met some amazing people on my journey and learned some life changing lessons.  I am not saying I would ever want to go through this again but with the support of my family and friends I have only come out stronger.

The past year in short:

After months of trying procedure after procedure after procedure they

finally got to a place that was so intolerable I was no longer able to work. My doctor and I finally decided to implant the baclofen pump.  We knew the medication worked but I had already rejected the spinal cord stimulator twice 8 years ago. We did some allergy testing that was fine and we went forward with fingers crossed.    My other problem was that my fingers had been closed for so long they would no longer open.  During the surgery a hand surgeon opened and placed my fingers in a cast for two weeks.  When the two weeks were up the cast off and my fingers were straight!!  Unfortunately now I can't move them the other way...go figure.  I am now doing physical therapy 3 days a week after work and still have lots of follow up apointments but I can't complainm, I don't have any RSD pain.  I have my life back!!

What this project can do:

Through this project, I am raising money for RSD research that can help me, now and in the future if I ever have another problem, and for all of the wonderful people who suffer from this condition that I met in the hospital.  There has to be a way to find better treatments and, perhaps a cure.  I am excited that I can be a part of the solution!

Many people, including those in the medical professions, do not know about RSD.  Here is some information about the disorder and about the charity that will receive your contribution, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA)

What is RSD?

      Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSD) - also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) - is a chronic neurological syndrome.

      RSD is a malfunction of part of the nervous system.  The nerves misfire, sending constant pain signals to the brain.  Some of its symptoms are:

      *    severe burning pain

      *    pathological changes in bone and skin

      *     excessive sweating

      *    tissue swelling

      *     extreme sensitivity to touch

      *    abnormal changes to skin color and temperature

      *   RSD is 2 to 3 times more frequent in females than males

      *    limited range of movement

About my charity:

    Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA)

      The Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association was founded in 1984 to promote public and professional awareness of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD or RSDS), also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).  Our goal is to educate those afflicted with this syndrome, their family, friends, insurance and healthcare providers, on the disabling pain the syndrome causes.

      For information about RSD and the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA), please visit:  http://www.rsds.org

You can also join me for the walk if you would like by contacting me directly for information or going directly to nyrr.org and registering online. You can join the RSD team and we can walk together.
