My personal message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I am trying to raise money for Richard and his family.   Richard is 12 years old and lives in Tabaco, Philippines.    He lives in a tiny shack consisting of a small kitchen area, living room area, and one small bedroom.  He lives with his parents, and three siblings.  Yes, there are 6 people living in this tiny space!!

Up until just very recently he, and his entire family, were sleeping on grass mats on the floor.  I was able to save enough money to buy a double deck bed with a single and a double mattress for the family.  This is basically enough room for 3 people to normally sleep, but that is all the room they have for beds in that tiny room, so they will all share, but at least it will get them off the cold, damp floor.

I am now raising money for repairs to his house, and some water storage containers.   As many probably know, it is a wet climate in the Philippines, and having a dirt floor is asking for a disaster.   The roof on their house leaks turning the floor into mud when it rains, which is often.  There are no doors or windows, just openings in the walls.   Their house needs repairs badly, not just for comfort, but for health.

Per the letter I received:

"Our field staff has informed us that the family's source of potable water is from a nearby spring which is one kilometer from their house.  They need big containers with a cover so that they can keep the water they need for the day for easy access. "

"The family is living in a small house partly made of concrete materials and bamboo slits.  The kitchen and the living room is in need of repair, the walls are made up of bamboo, the roof is made of anahaw leaves, and the flooring is dirt.  The room where the children are sleeping  has corrugated sheet roofing but also is in need of repair."

Both of his parents work very hard, one as a laborer, and one as a cook, yet they barely survive day to day.

Please, wont you donate what you can to help me provide improvements to his house so that they can remain healthy.  This, in turn, will help him study, get educated, and able to pull himself out of poverty.

Any amount you can give will add up and will help change a life!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
