For more than 50 years, The Arc has been the leading advocate for Americans with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. Founded as a grassroots organization to help individuals and families gain access to services and supports for loved ones with mental retardation, the organization has grown in size and scope to become the nation's largest volunteer-based organization serving the estimated 7.2 million Americans with mental retardation. Today, more than 800 local chapters and 41 state chapters provide direct services in communities across the county.

The Arc of Florida is coming to beautiful, sunny Daytona Beach, Florida for our 55th Annual Arc of Florida Convention! The event will take place on August 18th through the 20th, 2008 at the Hilton Daytona Beach resort. We anticipate that over 700 people will attend this year’s convention.
The Arc of Florida is a private non-profit corporation under IRS code 501(c) 3, and serves as a statewide advocacy network advocating for improving the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities.
Our mission is to advocate for local chapters, public policies, and high quality supports for people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities to be fully included in all aspects of their community.
The 55th Annual Arc of Florida Convention is more than just a “social event” for persons with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities—it serves as a venue for the following opportunities:
- Networking with professionals in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Meeting other self-advocates who have overcome personal struggles to achieve their dreams of employment, independence, and inclusion within their community.
- Gaining valuable knowledge regarding civil rights, competitive employment options, health and safety concerns, current legislative issues, and family advocacy through interactive trainings and workshops.
- Attending presentations and receiving training from well-known celebrity advocates.
- Enjoying inclusive outings to popular entertainment spots, such as amusement parks, shops, restaurants, and much more!
- Making new friends and reconnecting with old ones.
We are asking you to joins us in supporting these very special individuals as they seek to broaden their horizons. Your sponsorship of these individuals will assist us in providing the opportunities listed above. Thank you for making our dreams come true.
